Fans of the Fast and Furious films will have to wait a bit longer to attend the next “family” reunion, because Universal Pictures has announced that they've moved the long awaited sequel's release date back a month from May to June of this year. And if you (or more likely, your child or younger sibling) are an acolyte of the Minions franchise, that wait will be even longer. Minions: The Rise of Gru has been bumped out of this year altogether and kicked onto the 2022 release calendar.

According to The Wrap , Universal Pictures has decided to change the release date of Justin Lin's long-delayed ninth installment to the Fast & Furious film franchise. Originally set for a May 28, 2021 theatrical release, F9: The Fast Saga has been pushed back again for the fourth time and is now set to arrive on June 25, 2021. The new release date sees the Vin Diesel-led sequel going up against another high-profile project with Sony's highly-anticipated Venom: Let There Be Carnage .

‘F9' Shifts Back a Month to June, ‘Minions' Sequel Bumped to Summer 2022

Universal Pictures' “F9” has been delayed again, this time to June 25, 2021, the studio announced on Thursday. The studio also delayed “Minions: The Rise of Gru” a full year to July 1, 2022.
“F9” was originally scheduled to hit theaters on May 22, 2020 but was pushed to April 2, 2021 due to the coronavirus pandemic. Then, the film was pushed again to May 28, 2021 in October.
The “Minions” sequel was also originally meant to open in the summer of 2020 but had been pushed back a year. It now takes the place of another untitled animated Illumination movie on the schedule.
